To clarify, Tom is 100% correct if you are wanting to copy the layer definition/properties from drawing A to drawing B. ADC is the simplest way to do it, and is a simple drag and drop.

If you want to copy the _contents_ from a single layer (or several layers) - that is the enitites that are on a layer, then the simplest route is to use LAYISO on the source drawing to isolate those layers, then select the entities, and use the Windows Clipboard to copy them into, and then paste to a target drawing.

One could also use NCOPY (if the target drawing is already referenced), or simply STEAL what you want.

I have to offer one caveat to that statement. Let's say that your source file has layers a, b, c, & d and that you want to grab everything from layer d. If you use turn off layers a, b & c (that's what LAYISO does elements from layer d will be shown. But specifically the issue is with sub-elements within a block. If one those sub-elements is on layer d, then you'll see them and likely select them -- but if you select them, you're really selecting the block. If you copy the block as part of this process, then the OTHER sub-elements (as well as the other layers) will obviously come along for the ride.

If you're fine with that then great. Just no that it's going to happen.

Another step for that would be to lock the layers LAYISO turned off. You can then select all the elements on layer d. Anything that is on a locked layer will be removed from the selection set.

If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.
