I'm sorta just hobbling through the week this week…

The past two weeks were short ones for me, piece of work-wise, as I traveled to Nashville with some girl friends for a long weekend (including my birthday) and final weekend when I was up on Lake Michigan for a blogger retreat.

Both were seriously fabled trips with some seriously amazing women. I am blest to have them all in my life to share fun, food, laughs and inspiration!

Just this calendar week is all reality. Including both kids being out of school and home with me while I piece of work on Friday. Transport bourbon. 😂

But now, on to today'due south recipe…

My mom'due south been making sugared pecans at the holidays for years.

They are always role of our almanac mom-girl baking mean solar day, where we prep all the cookies and treats for the family unit together and just accept fun in the kitchen.

But honestly, those pecans were always the matter I was least excited about.

I adore a salty-sweet snack, and our homemade chex mix is one of my very favorite holiday snacks, but sugared pecans just never did information technology for me for some reason.

And so terminal yr, my mom added some cayenne.

And I roughshod in honey! ❤️

These sweetness and spicy pecans with maple syrup are just so much more balanced, I think.

They're non super spicy but they exercise have a little heat that kicks in at the cease. I dearest that!

I've adjusted my mom's recipe considering I wanted to employ maple syrup instead of brown sugar so they'd be naturally sweetened.

I also use butter in mine, which I recall helps bring out the richness of the basics.

And shhh, I call back my tweaks make these sweet and spicy pecans even better!

They are so like shooting fish in a barrel and then addictive and only perfect for setting out at the holidays for people to snack on.

Notes on these sweet and spicy pecans with maple syrup:

  • I apply butter but you can sub extra-virgin olive oil if you prefer (or if you desire them to exist vegan).
  • I like using all maple syrup but I've seen some recipes that use part maple syrup and role brown sugar. Exercise what suites you!
  • I think these have the perfect corporeality of cayenne to get only a background hint of spicy, simply feel free to conform the corporeality to suit your tastes.
  • These pecans volition keep for at least ii-3 weeks, stored in an air-tight container at room temperature.

Cook Fourth dimension 20 minutes

Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon melted unsalted butter (or sub olive oil)
  • 3/four teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/ii teaspoon cayenne
  • 1/ii teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon footing coriander
  • 1/viii teaspoon allspice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large basin, combine maple syrup, butter and seasonings through allspice. Add pecans and stir until they are well coated.
  3. Spread pecans in an even layer on prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake at 300 for 20-25 minutes, stirring once, until well browned. Be careful they don't burn.
  5. Let cool on baking sheet and enjoy!

Notes

I use butter simply you tin sub olive oil if y'all adopt (or if you lot want them to be vegan).

I think these have the perfect amount of cayenne to get just a background hint of spicy, but feel complimentary to adjust the amount to suit your tastes.

These pecans will go along for at least 2-three weeks, stored in an air-tight container at room temperature.
